About the EUCJMTP Alumni Network

EUCMA (EU-China Managers Association) is the alumni association for the EUCJMTP (EU-China Junior Managers Training Programme). It brings together participants of the programme. With the fifth intake of the EUCJMPT having come to a close in December 2003, the alumni community is now 162 strong.

The board

The members of the second board of the Association are:
- Mrs. Lea Oksanen, President of the board
- Ms. Ana Herrera, , Vice-President of the board
- Mr. Elias Chowdhury, Board member
- Mr. Guillaume Morel, Board member
- Mr. Florian Satzinger, Board member

Objectives

The Association works to maintain and further expand the contact between the alumni of the EUCJMTP and promotes the awareness of the Programme in China and Europe.

The Association reaches the above objectives through events organised for members. These events will act as meeting points for members giving them the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge. The Association shall furthermore, through information meetings and activities, seek to build and support the positive image of the EU-China Junior Managers Training Programme.

A survey on following the alumni's situation was conducted jointly by PMO and ECO in November 2001. The results of the survery demonstrated that the majority of managers believe that participation on the programme was very beneficial to their careers. While some managers continue to work with China from Europe, many have stayed in China and are currently working with both European and Chinese organizations. These managers are not only furthering their own career development, but also contributing to enhancing economic and other bilateral ties between China and the EU. It was for this very purpose that the EUCJMPT was established.

Registration

The Alumni Association and representative committee were established on 17 January 1999.

The European Co-ordination Office (ECO) of the EUCJMTP entrusted the lawyer of Hame Polytechnic in Finland to draft the articles of association in May 2001. The articles were sent to the board members in September 2001, then sent to all the alumni in October 2001 and submitted to the board meeting for acceptance in November 2001. The official documents were completed and submitted to the Finnish authority to apply for the permit of the registration in December 2001. A special permit was received in January 2002 from the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Finland to allow the alumni association to be registered in Finland. The official name of the alumni association is EU-China Managers Association, in short EUCMA.

Website

As the programme was drawing to a close, it was felt by many that the alumni needed a tool and a vehicle by which the network of talents could be effectively maintained. This site would not have been made possible without the efforts of the EUCMA board members, our webmaster and all the alumni who responded to the call of an update of their contact details. The site will be a board for our alumni to post their data and thus allow the other alumni to know of their progress, as well as anyone else interested in the alumni community. The site will carry a database of all alumni's details. Please note that each alumnus is responsible for updating their own details. In addition, it carries details of "affiliates" of the programme, i.e. people who have contributed to the programme and without whom there would be no alumni. This list is not exhaustive and we shall endeavour to include in the future anyone who has not made it to the current database. The site will also be the main point of access to the Alumni Association Newsletter.
