EUCMA Lecture event at the EU Delegation on November 24th 2011.
Thursday, November 24th, EUCMA co-organized the lecture on the new Social Insurance Law for Foreigners with Alexandra Lehmann of the EU Delegation. The impact and practical consequences of the new Social Insurance Law and its implementing regulations is important for all Chinese members who are involved in the hiring process or working in the HR departments and European members working in China. We had two key speakers giving a lecture and sharing their knowledge and expertise with the more than 55 attendants of the event.
The first speaker was Mr. Carl Shaw, ex-Team Leader of the Social Security Reform Programme. Mr. Carl Shaw focused on article 97 of the Social Insurance Law, covering the draft regulations, interntional experience and frequently asked questions.
The second speaker was Mr. Rock Zhao, Partner of Zhonghui Certified Tax Agent Firm. Mr. Rock Zhao spoke in detail about the implications of the new law on tax matters including individual income tax and corporate income tax.
Following up the two lectures, a Q&A session was held. Mr. Michael Sunnus, Counsellor on Labour and Social Affairs from the German Embassy joined the panel of experts in answering questions from the audience. After discussing the new insurance law, Harold Broese van Groenou gave a presentation about his whiskey company, and arranged a whisky tasting to conclude the event.
We continued the networking in Nearby The Tree where EUCMA members catched up with each other and continue the discussion about the New Social Insurance Law for Foreigners. We would like to thank all the speakers and everyone who attended the event!
