Being Globally Responsible: CSR, Profitability & Social Entrepreneurship
Being Globally Responsible – CSR, Profitability and Social Entrepreneurship Shenzhen, 25th, February, 2011
Corporate Social Responsibility – CSR - is not a new concept, but in the recent years it has grown significantly and today contains a great number of theories, approaches and terminologies often quoted by the media, global corporations, NGOs, CEOs and many others. Its core concept is based on creating a good society and an instrumental perspective which focuses on achieving economic objectives through social activities. However it is often vague and uncertain for companies how can they do business while doing good? And how, by spending on doing good, companies can increase revenues and eventually profits?
In response the growing importance of CSR and knowledge sharing on CSR best practices, the EU-China Managers Association (EUCMA) and the European Union Chamber of Commerce, PRD Chapter, held the 2011 PRD Forum Being Globally Responsible - Corporate Social Responsibility, Profitability and Social Entrepreneurship in Shenzhen on February 25th, 2011.
The Forum gathered over seventy guests among which EUCMA members, business leaders, Chinese government, EU General Consulates as well as the local media. Invited key speakers were the experts in the field - the Director of CSR Asia China, Mr. Brian Ho, who shared the CSR significance on long term sustainability and profitability for the companies and the General Manager for Certification and Accreditation, Business Line Systems TÜV Rheinland Greater China, Mr. Andreas Münch, who introduced the CSR certification regulation under ISO26000:2010 that has been put into force in late 2010. Large European & Chinese companies, such as NOKIA and TENCENT, shared their present CSR engagement and best practices on CSR. EUCMA Member, Mr. Li Jun (METP1), who is also the Chairman of Humanitarian Advisory Council at Operation Blessing China, introduced the power of individual engagement on Social Entrepreneurship and charity work.
